CONTINUATION OF ELIAS' STORY

The genesis of Elias' illness, which his brother and Dr. Herman tried to treat in a closed colony center, took place many years earlier in the Kosovskis' family home. The place where Elias grew up had an extremely bad reputation among the local residents. The family's isolation from all outside contact meant that long-standing rumors about the Kosowskis' private lives arose. Some of them concerned Elias' mother, who, due to her husband's business interests, practically raised her two children alone. According to some, her mental instability and tendency to outbursts of aggression prevented her from taking adequate care of her children. Other rumors cast doubt on the children themselves, who were said to possess troubled artistic abilities.

Older residents believed that a curse had been weighing down on the Kosovsky family for generations, bringing them misfortune and causing rare mental illnesses.

After Elias was moved to the center, children from the surrounding area began playing in the abandoned house and spreading legends about the strange noises that could be heard there....
